A driver struck and killed a 43-year-old woman as she crossed Waterman Boulevard in Fairfield Wednesday morning, the Fairfield Police Department said.

According to a post on social media by the department, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The Solano County Coroner identified the woman as Regina Perez-Nicolas of Fairfield.

Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal accident, but an investigation is ongoing.

Police said Waterman Road remained closed in both directions between Capitola Way and Barbour Drive for some time following the collision.
