Three horses to include in a multiple on Thursday. . .

Jky: Sam James Tnr: Grant Tuer

Jky: Sam Twiston-Davies Tnr: Nigel Twiston-Davies

Jky: Kieran Shoemark Tnr: Tom Clover

Sophia’s Starlight (2.45 Newmarket)

Beaten a head by Funny Story in a course-and-distance Listed event last October and meets that winner on 9lb better terms here on her first visit to the track since. The four-year-old has yet to win in six starts this season, but has primarily been contesting Listed races that have been won by the likes of subsequent Group 1 Sprint Cup hero Montassib and Falmouth Stakes runner-up Jabaara. The switch to handicap company against her own sex should suit the four-year-old, who is rated just 2lb higher than when winning last year’s Great St Wilfrid Handicap.

Call Blue (3.37 Perth)

Returned from a 671-day absence with a promising second at Stratford last month, chasing home Mary. The winner went on to finish second of 11 off 4lb higher at Downpatrick and the fifth-placed Razzo Italiano won his next start off 3lb worse terms. The form of Call Blue’s last run was also boosted when Karannelle, who the selection beat by six lengths at Newton Abbot, won a ten-runner event at the same track and trip on her next start. Nigel Twiston-Davies saddled two winners from as many runners at this track last season, so the fact he is sending the seven-year-old up to Scotland has to be noted.

Al Nayyir (3.55 Newmarket)

Beaten a short head by Vauban in the Lonsdale Cup and that form has stacked up pretty well since. The winner chased home star stayer Kyprios in the Irish St Leger and the fourth-placed Night Sparkle was second in the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes. Al Nayyir should confirm her near four-length superiority over that mare here on his second start for Tom Clover.
