The All Blacks have won eight straight matches against the Wallabies, with their last defeat coming in 2020. New Zealand’s longest winning streak against Australia is 10.

The All Blacks’ last record in Wellington

Sky Stadium hasn’t been a great venue for the All Blacks recently. They have one win in their last seven Tests in Wellington, dating back to the British and Irish Lions series in 2017. The Wallabies last time Australia visited, they came away with a 16-16 draw after Jordie Barrett converted a 79th-minute penalty to secure victory. The All Blacks’ last two Tests in the capital have ended in 10-point and eight-point defeats. Ouch.

Australia have played the All Blacks six times at Sky Stadium, with their only win coming in the 2000 Test when John Eales kicked the winning penalty. They last drew 16-16 in 2020. Australia have two other wins at Sky Stadium, both at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, beating the USA 67-5 and winning the quarter-final against South Africa 11-9.

Australia also recorded victories over the All Blacks at Athletic Park in 1949, 1964, 1982, 1986 and 1990.

Sam Cane joins 100 All Blacks club

The All Blacks No.7 is expected to reach 100 Tests when he takes to the pitch in Wellington on Saturday. Cane has made 76 international appearances, 23 from the bench. He previously reached 100 All Blacks caps when he played against the Barbarians in 2017. Cane made his debut against Ireland in 2012, winning 22-19 in Christchurch, and did not lose a Test until his 23rd Test for New Zealand.

The only top-flight team Sam Cane has never beaten is England. Amazingly, in Cane’s 99 Tests he has only played England once, a semi-final defeat in 2019.

List of teams Sam Cane played for

Australia (24), Argentina (17), South Africa (16), Ireland (9), France (8), Wales (5), Italy (4), British and Irish Lions (3), Japan (2), Scotland (2), Namibia (2), United States (2), England (1), Tonga (1), Samoa (1), Barbarians (1), Georgia (1), Uruguay (1).
