Hawks dominate coaches’ vote

Hawthorn took all the coaches’ votes in their Round 5 clash with St Kilda.

Hawthorn collected a host of coaches’ votes in Week 5, with eight players voted in based on their performances in the 57-point win over St Kilda.

Greta Bodey secured the maximum number of ten votes, Lucy Wales received seven votes, Aileen Gilroy four and Eliza West three, while Kaitlyn Ashmore and Tamara Smith received two votes each and Jasmine Fleming and Aine McDonagh received one vote each.

Bodey’s stellar performance was highlighted by a career-high six goals on 18 disposals and eight rebounds.

Wales dominated the scrum, scoring the most goals in the team with 22, the same number as in the whole match with 23 disposals and the same number as in the whole match with nine interceptions.

Gilroy had five entries into the 50-second box, made a game-high three tackles and had six scoring touchdowns.

West once again shone in the midfield: he had a game-high 21 interceptions – 10 interceptions – and the same number of tackles – the most in the game.

Ashmore was everywhere and influenced play from end to end with 11 passes, while Smith was a brick wall in defence with 17 passes.

Fleming made 20 tackles as the youngster continued to impress in the midfield, while McDonagh scored twice and had a game-high nine try-scoring tackles.
