STRONGSVILLE — The Salem boys finished 11th out of 32 teams at the Strongsville Invitational on Saturday.

Among the Quaker boys, Sam Yakubek led the way, taking 21st place (16:41).

Among the girls, Maggie Hall finished in the top ten, taking ninth place with a time of 19:31.

The Salem girls finished 18th out of 30 teams.

The Quakers will win their 10th consecutive Columbiana County cross-country championship on Tuesday at Waterworth Memorial Park.

Invitation to Sandy Valley

MAGNOLIA — Southern Local’s Logan McCartney finished 13th at 121 to lead the Indians Saturday at the Sandy Valley Invitational.

McCartney finished in 18:11.7 in the small schools category.

Shenandoah’s Jarrett Wentworth finished first in 16:57. Shenandoah also won the boys’ small school championship.

For Southern’s girls, Mara Miller finished 18th (22:04) and Caty Brewer finished 48th (24:05) in a field of 110 runners. Edison won the girls small school title. Southern was 12th out of 13 teams.

In the large schools category, Minerva took first place among girls and second among boys.

First was Gabby Lupshu of the Lions with a time of 19:03, third was Makenzie Beavers with a time of 19:23 and fourth was Katie Ison with a time of 19:25.

Grasyn Retting took fifth place, leading the Minerva boys (16:40).

Malone’s Invitation

CANTON — The West Branch boys finished ninth out of 10 teams in the small school division at the Malone Invitational on Saturday.

Kyle Ormiston led the Warrior Boys in 12th place (18:43). Colton Cantwell was 30th (20:09).

Jackson Varner of Waynedale won with a time of 16:33.
