The famous fish and chip shop frequented by dozens of A-list stars – even Rick Stein says it’s the best place he’s ever eaten

A FAMOUS chip shop in the British Isles has been named the “best” by popular TV chefs and is a favourite with A-list celebrities.

Leo Burdock’s Chippy in Dublin has been visited by so many celebrities that its website now has a ‘hall of fame’ featuring all its famous customers.

The guest list is impressive, with regulars including Bruce Springsteen, Snoop Dogg, Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Outkast frontman Andre 3000 and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Springsteen has even been there a few times, and the website boasts that employees consider The Boss one of their regulars.

The text reads: “We’ve been serving our famous fish and chips for over a century.

“Over the years we have been frequently visited by celebrities from the world of politics, literature, Hollywood films and stadium rock and pop.

“We like to think of Bruce Springsteen as a regular.”

The popularity of the French fry restaurant may be due to the fact that it is highly rated by people who know about cooking.

TV chef Rick Stein is quoted as saying it was “the best fish and chips he’s ever eaten.”

Meanwhile, the late Anthony Bourdain said it was “truly an honor” for him to eat there and that his name was on the guest wall.

Marco Pierre White was also on the list of top chefs who were delighted with the food served at these restaurants.

The bar was even featured on MTV, where DJ Trevor Nelson interviewed the staff, who boasted of having served supermodels such as Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss.

Employees also revealed that musician BB King ordered three portions of fish and chips, which he then ate outside the store in his limousine, washing them down with a few beers.

Some of the celebrities on the Hall of Fame list might be considered a bit questionable; for example, Justin Timberlake’s parents are unlikely to be recognized by many people.

However, Serena and Venus Williams, Conor McGregor and Jackie Chan are undoubtedly impressive clients.

After opening its first branch in Christchurch, Dublin in 1913, Leo Burdock has enjoyed enormous success and now has numerous branches throughout Ireland.

Another venue has opened in the Irish capital, in the famous Temple Bar district, and others have opened in Bray, Howth, Cookstown and Naas.

However, the original is still the most popular and is in a great location, being right next to Dublin Castle.

A 15-minute walk in the other direction will take you to the Guinness Storehouse, one of the most visited attractions in the city.

The pubs in Temple Bar are just a five-minute walk away, making this ideally located for visitors looking for a historic place to eat while in Dublin.

Hundreds of people have also given this property five-star reviews on TripAdvisor.

Someone wrote: “When we saw the “World Famous…” sign we had to try it and we were NOT disappointed! The fish was fresh, hot and flavorful.”

Another added: “I’ve eaten a lot of fish and chips and this was hands down the best fried cod I’ve ever had! No one else comes close.”
